About Me
I am a Scottish 2D/3D animator and designer, with an interest in creating bright characters, and simple entertaining narratives. I have a passion for combining 2D and 3D elements together, and the problem solving involved in compositing shots. I hope to get a foothold in the animation industry through working on short films and independent projects, while continuing to produce my own work.
About My Graduate Film
My animated graduate film ‘Hoax Encounters’ follows a trio of Alien nature enthusiasts visiting Earth, who accidentally abduct a group of Hikers while trying to steal their camera. The film switches perspectives between the 2 groups, with the charming hijinks of the Aliens being reframed as ominous and frightening through the lens of the Hikers’ camera. I animated the characters in 2D and integrated them into a multitude of 2D/3D environments constructed from hand painted assets. I used TVPaint, Blender, Photoshop and After Effects to animate the film.

This page covers much of my initial exploration of the strange ways these Aliens could emote, move, and interact with each other. Many of these early drawing directly influence moments in the film.
This colour key, which I produced early in pre-production, demonstrates how I wanted the film to look, and how I wanted the exaggerated colours of the environments to shift as time passed from day to night
